After years of planning, negotiation, and construction—with many false starts—the trail linking the Arcata
Community Forest and the Sunny Brae Forest Tract was completed just in time to be included here. This hike takes in the entirety of the Arcata Ridge Trail along with the Beith Creek and South Fork Janes Creek loops and several of the newer ACF trails. It can be modified into a one-way hike by exiting the Sunny Brae Tract via the Margaret Lane or Panorama Court Trailhead (there is no parking at the latter). These are well-used trails, so be prepared to share them with bicycles, dogs, horses, and runners. Most of the route traverses second-growth redwood forest but the north endgoes through an alder forest alongside Janes Creek.
