The book uses high quality paper and photos plus information about the geology, soil types, and when and where the plants flower. It is a bit difficult to use for plant identification because they are ordered in alphabetical order of their Latin names. It is difficult to find this red-flowering plant if you don’t remember that its name starts with an “s” and it is shown on page 84. But overall it summarizes the diversity of plants and is a good summary of what you can find around Mt. Tam.
