Hike 13: Stone Lagoon to Sue-meg

IMG_0655

The most challenging aspect of this hike is finding a time when it’s possible! Storms can breach the spits, creating rushing streams across the beaches. The water level in Stone Lagoon is often too high to walk the shoreline. The stretch between Dry and Big Lagoons is passable only at very low tides (Trinidad is the nearest tide station). Thus, your best bet is on minus tides in summer and fall.

The Rim Trail between the Rim Trail Overlook and the Mussel Rocks Trail has been rerouted. It now takes you to the Mussel Rocks parking lot, where you have to turn right onto the Mussel Rocks Trail then left to continue on the Rim Trail.
