Your Teacher

Allison Poklemba

Is an environmental educator, herbalist, co-owner of Backcountry Press and Dandelion Herbal Center, and (most importantly!) a seaweed enthusiast. She has been teaching about the joys of foraging for and cooking with sea vegetables since the year 2000! Each summer she guides classes through the tide pools of Northern California on seaweed harvest adventures.

    Hello, Backcountry Press!
I am interested in taking the edible seaweed class with my granddaughter. I think I remember seeing it offered once as an in-person class where the participants camped for the weekend near the shore. Am I remembering correctly and is that something you would offer in the future?
    Yours,
    Jane Toro

      Hi Jane!
Would love to have you and your granddaughter join us for the seaweed adventure weekend! We meet for a weekend in the 2nd half of May (based on the tides) on the Lost Coast of CA. I added your name to my list of folks to contact and will email you when the dates are decided and registration opens.
      Looking forward to it!
      Allison
